Overview
Snuuddle is a premium sleep wellness brand in Singapore. Their flagship product, the Snuuddle Arc Pillow, features a dual-sided cooling/soft knit design and customizable shredded foam filling. As the Lead UX/UI Designer, I directed their storefront UX revamp to transform a generic WooCommerce layout into a science-backed sleep storytelling experience.
Our Target & E-Commerce Metrics
We established our target metrics in close collaboration with the brand's marketing and operations team. Snuuddle's initial layout was suffering from poor engagement, as customers could not easily understand the scientific benefits of the adjustable arc design, leading to low conversion rates.
Dissecting the Sleep Commodity Trap
Before designing mockups, it was critical to identify why users hesitated to purchase. We audited customer support tickets and conducted post-purchase surveys, discovering that users view pillows as simple commodities. They compared Snuuddle's premium pricing with generic store-bought pillows, completely missing the value of the dual-sided cover (cooling silk on one side, soft knit on the other) and the customizable foam filling.
We organized a FigJam session with sleep specialists, copywriters, and developers to explore solutions. We mapped out the primary user frustration: waking up with stiff necks, shoulder fatigue, or posture-induced migraines. To stand out, we realized the digital storefront had to act as an educational resource, selling a "posture correction system" rather than just a physical pillow.
A key visual bottleneck in the previous WooCommerce theme was that all scientific details were hidden inside flat technical tabs. Users did not understand how to adjust the shredded foam or how the double-sided fabric regulated temperature. We decided to structure the entire landing page as a continuous, visual storytelling canvas.
Structuring the Posture Journey
I mapped out an editorial e-commerce structure that moves the customer through a step-by-step educational flow before offering a purchase action:
- The Hook: "Discover Deep, Restorative Sleep" header paired with close-ups of the pillow fabric to set a premium, comfortable mood.
- The Posture Challenge: Orthopedic diagrams detailing common sleeping positions (side, back, stomach) and explaining how traditional flat pillows strain the cervical spine.
- The Arc Anatomy: Interactive visual blocks showing the dual-sided material and explaining how the adjustable foam core contours around the neck.
- Social Proof & Buying Loop: Showcasing verified reviews and offering a streamlined 1-click cart checkout.
Designing for Comfort and Cozy Aesthetics
To communicate premium quality, I designed a dark cozy user interface using the **Inter** font family, soft drop shadows, and subtle warm lighting in product photographs. Key interactive decisions included:
- 3D Interactive Product Scroll: Programmed a smooth scroll-triggered 3D animation that rotates the Snuuddle Arc Pillow 360 degrees as the user scrolls, showing the contour curve from all angles.
- Terracotta Upsell Drawer: Designed a sliding side-cart panel that allows customers to add a complementary product, the Sleep Ritual Candle, with one click before checkout, raising Average Order Value (AOV).
- Responsiveポスト-Purchase Components: Structured clean post-purchase confirmation templates detailing Snuuddle's replacement warranty and local delivery guidelines.
Refining the E-Commerce Funnel
We tested the new layout with 10 side and back sleepers to observe how they digested the information. Key adjustments made during iterations included:
